YOUR RESEARCH, YOUR ARCHIVES
Dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the wide-ranging stories of the people and places of DeKalb County
What is an archives? It is a collection (as well as a building or room) of historical documents or records providing information about a place, institution, or group of people.
In our case, the archives cover aspects of DeKalb County, GA history.
Our resources include genealogical materials, cemetery files, maps, oral histories, photographs, newspapers, and other special types of collections. Click on any of the BIG BLUE BOXES below to explore! Click “Contact The Archives” to request an appointment.
We are not the record holders for DeKalb County government (contact the relevant department) or property records (contact Clerk of Superior Court). Our materials come from individuals or families, businesses, churches, etc.
Appointments are required to allow time for the archivist to pull materials, and to make sure that there is enough space for researchers to work in the archives. Otherwise, some material is available digitally. Explore boxes below.
