DeKalb Traveler: Chai-Making Class at Refuge Coffee

 In
October 30, 2026 10 AM

This is a DHC Member Only Program.

Join fellow members of the DeKalb History Center as we learn the art of Chai making and the story of Refuge Coffee Co. from Leon, Refuge’s very first Refugee Trainee who is now our Customer Experience Coordinator.

Class includes a large chai latte.

What to Expect:
A Little History — the story of chai, the beginnings of Refuge Coffee, and highlights from Leon’s own journey.

A little instruction — watch a chai demonstration and enjoy the final taste test. You’ll want to make it again at home—if only for the heavenly aroma!

A little Q&A — our favorite part. Bring your questions; Leon is—as he always says—“born ready” to answer them.

A little takeaway — your own custom Chai recipe card and a large Chai latte to take home.

Join Us for a Workshop & Experience a Warm Welcome. Not long after Refuge Coffee launched and Leon joined our team as our first barista trainee, we quickly discovered that he is a natural storyteller. Sure, he enjoys
making chai and brewing coffee, but he truly shines as our Ambassador of Welcome—setting people at ease while teaching and inspiring along the way.
