End of Year Fundraiser: Support the Archives

 In

We come to you at the end of the year with a special fundraising appeal. The global pandemic has impacted us in an unexpected way. Many people have “lightened their load” during this time as they have cleaned their attics, moved, or retired. This has caused our archives to expand as we continue to accept collections relevant to DeKalb County. We are grateful for these collections but need your support to increase our capacity! The pandemic did not slow down the public’s need for our resources either. Just this year, our archivist has already assisted 350 researchers. And staff has been able to plumb the depths of our own collection as we work to provide more digital content to you.

We have newly purposed storage rooms for our burgeoning collections but desperately need to add shelving. Storage conditions also need to be improved by reducing light and heat, while damp areas need dehumidification. Some of this equipment also wears out over time. We need your help to reach our $10,000 goal for the year’s end. Whether you can donate $5 or $500, every dollar can be used to build a great environment for our archival and museum collections.
