DeKalb Traveler: South-View Cemetery

 In
February 12, 2025 10:00 AM

Join fellow DeKalb History Center Members exploring South-View Cemetery with Winifred Hemphill, President of         South-View Cemetery Association.

South-View is the the oldest African-American “non eleemosynary” corporation in the country, and is the final resting place for over 80,000 African Americans. Many of whom have made significant contributions to American history and the struggle for freedom and peace. Among the many notables are men and women who were scholars, business owners, pastors, professors, military heroes, musicians, athletes, and civil rights activists.

On the tour, we will learn about the many Civil Rights icons whose final resting place is South-View. On this tour we will see the final resting place of Hank Aaron, John Wesley Dobbs, and John Lewis.

This event is for DeKalb History Center Members only.

South-View is located at
