Downtown Decatur Architecture Walking Tour
We have a new Downtown Decatur Architectural walking tour for 2023!
In this year’s brand new walking tour, come learn about the Architects and Architecture of Downtown Decatur. This tour will focus on commercial buildings spanning 1920 to 1970. Attendees will see a wide variety of building styles from classical to modern. You will walk away with a new appreciation for the historic buildings found in Downtown Decatur. Buildings covered include Masonic Hall, New Courthouse, and Blair Rutland Building. Guests will have an opportunity to take a peek inside the Blair Rutland Building thanks to Gene Kansas Commercial Real Estate.
Architecture Styles Covered: Beaux-Art, New Formalism, Stripped Classical, Streamlined Moderne, International
Tour lasts 75 minutes, distance 1 mile.
Meeting Location: DeKalb History Center Lobby, Historic DeKalb Courthouse 101 E. Court Square Decatur, GA 30030
- The tour is outdoors with a total walking distance of about one mile, and lasts about an hour and a half.
- Meet in the Historic DeKalb Courthouse lobby for the start of the tour. Tours will happen (mild) rain or shine! Although in heavy or severe weather tour may be rescheduled or postponed- you will be notified if that is the case.
- Tickets are required; no walkups allowed.
