The following audio clips are part of the Home: The United Methodist Home exhibit now on display at the DeKalb History Center in Decatur, Georgia.

Debora Burger

Debora lived at the children’s home from 1964 to about 1973.

Joanne Bolton

Joanne lived at the children’s home from 1964 to 1967.

Sharon Brewer

Sharon grew up going to church and school with kids from the children’s home. Later in life, she worked for the United Methodist Children’s Home and then Wellroot Family Services.

Drolet Bush

Drolet lived at the Home from 1943 to 1949 with his parents, Douglas and Elma Bush.

Terry Chapman

Terry volunteered with the children’s home until 2010. Terry and his wife volunteered together throughout the years.

Sara Crews

Sara lived at the Home from 1948 to 1960.

Dela de la Fuente

Dela lived at the children’s home from 1968 to 1972.

Kathy Powell

Kathy lived at the Home from 1964 to 1974.

Michael Hainey

Michael lived at the children’s home from 1971 to 1981.

Terence Johnson

Terence worked at the children’s home from 1998 to 2003 and again from 2010 to 2016.

Mela Kirkwood

Mela lived at the children’s home from 1969 to 1980. Her father, Beverly Cochran, was Superintendent of the UMCH from 1969 to 2012.

Calvin Lott

Calvin Lott lived at the Home from 1946 to 1961.

Dorsey Nobles

Dorsey lived at the children’s home from 1971 to 1982. He became a staff member of  the UMCH in 1990, and continues to work on the campus (Legacy Park) today.

Denise Peacock

Denise was employed with the UMCH from 1973 to 1985 and again in 2008. She continued working with the children’s home when it became Wellroot Family Services in 2018.

Lisa Roper

Lisa lived at the children’s home from 1970 to 1980.

Diane Williamson

Diane volunteered with the UMCH for most of her adult life, and began helping in the 1950s as a child.
