For this year’s End-of-Year Fundraiser, we are raising money for Collections!

Founded in 1947, the DeKalb History Center, initially the “DeKalb Historical Society”, has been collecting, preserving and sharing the vibrant history of DeKalb County. Collecting archival documents, records, and objects of historical significance has been one of our main duties as keepers of history for decades.

You can imagine the vastness of our collections today. With thousands of items under our keep, it can be difficult to keep track of everything, let alone to organize it all. We’ve had staff over the years attempt to try and organize the 3D objects in our collections, but the job is just so time consuming and there is much to be done to keep a small non-profit like ours running. Luckily, last year, we were able to hire a part-time Collections Coordinator who has made incredible progress in processing and organizing our 3D collections, and we need your help to keep this momentum going.

By donating or by “adopting” an object you can help us to reach our goal of $10,000 so we can keep our staff in full force. Once adopted, your object and name (unless otherwise noted) will be featured in an online exhibit in early 2021. You can view the objects we have put up for adoption here.

By participating in this fundraiser, you support the DeKalb History Center in our preventative care, treatment, archive, and display of all objects in our collection.

Happy Adopting!
