End of Year Fundraiser: Archives

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re celebrating a year of incredible growth at the DeKalb History Center. More visitors than ever have joined us for programs, exhibits, and events—and it’s been a record-breaking year for research. More than 350 researchers have used our Archives, and 65 new collections were added this year alone.

People are turning to us to uncover family stories, learn about their homes, and explore histories that haven’t been told. To meet this growing demand, we need to expand our storage, upgrade our cataloging system, and invest in essential preservation supplies. Our $15,000 year-end goal directly supports our mission to collect, preserve, and share DeKalb County history for generations to come.

Local history connects people to their community. It builds understanding, pride, and a sense of belonging—for long-time residents and newcomers alike. Our Archives and museum provide vital resources for students, genealogists, and historians, and inspire curiosity in all who visit.

This year, your support will help us purchase the essential tools that keep our Archives running:

• Shelving units ($350)

• Storage space improvements ($1,000)

• Archival boxes and protective sleeves ($25)

• Archival cataloging software ($1,500)

• Dehumidifiers ($150)
